COVID-19 Library Updates

In an effort to keep our communities safe and following university coronavirus (COVID-19) protocols, we have closed all facilities and moved providing virtual library services. A phased return to services began on July 1. The services are as follows:

Contact-free Book Returns
Dickhaut Library

The Dickhaut Library book drop is available for contact-free return of library materials. We have two locations where books can be dropped off: 1) Werner Hall directly across from the MTSO mailroom and 2) the book return slot on the library building accessible from the campus courtyard side. All Dickhaut Library facilities remain closed to the public.

All returned materials will be quarantined for 72 to 96 hours before being checked in and made available to other users. If you or a member of your household are ill, we ask that you continue to renew your materials and wait to return them until you have been symptom-free for 72 hours.

Contact-free pickup

Materials from Dickhaut Library collections are available for contact-free pickup at this time. Library users affiliated with The Methodist Theological School of Ohio can submit requests for print materials by emailing us at

Once your request is ready, you will receive a confirmation email. All items ready for pickup will be available on a designated shelf in the room directly across from the MTSO mailroom in Werner Hall. All library facilities remain closed to the public.

Scanning and electronic delivery of materials from Dickhaut Library is ongoing. Library staff can still provide full text of electronic articles or ebook chapters. Library staff can also scan print articles and book chapters to be sent to students as PDF documents. You may submit requests via email at

Interlibrary borrowing of physical items from participating OHIOLink and OPAL libraries will tentatively begin August 10th or until further notice.

Due to increased requests, and additional precautions to protect both you and our employees, it may take longer than usual to fulfill your request for materials. You will receive an email as soon as your materials are ready.

E-books and other digital materials from our databases remain available, and the majority of library services are accessible remotely. Not all e-books listed in the OPAL and OhioLINK catalogs are available to MTSO patrons.
